January's more than (um, okay, way more than) half over and CineKink is cranking back into post-holiday action. Stepping proudly into a new year of the culture wars, we offer our thanks for your being a vital part of our 2005 - and our best thoughts for a healthy, happy, prosperous and kink-abundant 2006!
In the meantime, a few worthy distractions...
CINEKINK ALUMNI SIGHTINGS
Named an Honorable Best Mention at CineKink 2005, the polyamorous lesbian comedy 'Open' will play as part of "Best Lesbian and Alternative Shorts" on Friday, January 27th, 7 pm at the LGBT Center, 208 West 13th Street, between 7th & 8th Ave; $10. More info at http://sandragrace.tripod.com/BLSF.htm
'Pornographic Apathetic,' an Honorable Best Mention from the inaugural CineKink 2003, recently climbed to the stratosphere at Atom Films, currently residing in the #3 slot. Take another peek and help boost it back to the very top at http://www.atomfilms.com/af/content/pornographic_apathetic
AN EVENING OF CRIMINAL ART (NYC)
Barbara Nitke presents a slide show of her intimate S/M photography and candid behind-the-scenes moments with porn stars, then participates in a panel discussion of her landmark lawsuit against the federal Communications Decency Act. Joining her on the panel will be John Wirenius, pro bono attorney for the lawsuit, and Susan Wright, spokesperson for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, discussing the current status of the case, recently filed with the US Supreme Court, and why it's so vitally important to anyone interested in sexual rights in America.
Tuesday, January 24th, 8 pm
Museum of Sex, 233 Fifth Avenue (@ 27th); $10.

ALL-NEW!! EROTIC ROADMAP (NYC)
Author of "Deviant Desires: Incredibly Strange Sex," an anthropological look at the cultural explosion of extreme fetishes, Katharine Gates brings her all-new "Erotic Roadmap" slide show and lecture to NYU's Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality.
Thursday, February 2, 6pm
7 East 10th Street, Ground Floor Gallery; free and open to the public.
OUR NEW FAVORITE "NITKE"
Those of you who suffered through countless screenings of the recent year's opening festival trailers are all too well aware that 2005 was "the wedding year," as CineKink's Lisa Vandever and Alan Levy tied the knot in the fall. (The nuptials knot, not the other kind.) Since few couples are so blessed as to have an award-winning, federal government-challenging, landmark-legal-lawsuiting fine art photographer recording the festivities, we wanted to share our new personal favorite Barbara Nitke shot with the world. And then solemnly promise, no more wedding stuff!

Again, here's to a wonderful 2006!!
