CineKink NYC Makes Its Brazen Return This Week - October 17-22, 2006
NEW YORK, NY; Oct. 16, 2006 - CineKink NYC makes its brazen return on Tuesday, October 17th, featuring a specially curated program of films and videos that explore and celebrate a wide diversity of sexuality. In addition to screenings, plans for the fourth annual festival also include a short film competition, audience choices awards and presentation of the annual CineKink Tribute, all sandwiched between a gala kick-off and a grand finale "afterglow" party.
Billing itself as "the really alternative film festival," the event will run October 17-22, 2006. Presented by CineKink, an organization dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of kink-positive depictions in film and television, works presented at CineKink NYC will range from documentary to drama, mildly spicy to quite explicit - and everything in between.
The festivities begin Tuesday, October 17, at 8 PM, with a kick-off gala to be held at Bacchus (515 W. 29th Street, NYC), featuring a performance by The Wet Spots, the cabaret duo renowned for such melodious marvels as "Bi-Curious George," "Piggy Pile" and their internet music video smash hit, "Do You Take It?"
The festival then moves to Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue, NYC), Wednesday, October 18 through Saturday, October 21, with several different film and video programs scheduled for each day. CineKink NYC concludes on Sunday, October 22, at 7 PM with an Awards Celebration, featuring encore screenings of jury-selected best shorts from the week and presentation of the festival's annual awards, to be followed at 8:3O PM by an Afterglow Party, one last chance for like-minded festival-goers to meet and mingle (Bacchus; 515 W. 29, NYC).

SCREENING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/LINEUP
Among the CineKink NYC headliners, first up, on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 PM, is the festival's season opener, "Notorious Bettie Page," which artfully traces the pin-up icon's rise to infamy. Then, at 9 PM, it's a trip to London for the 15th anniversary celebration of the world's largest fetish/body arts club, "Torture Garden TGX."
On Thursday, October 19 at 6:30 PM is "Vice and Consent," a documentary visit with such prominent, long-standing members of the BDSM community as Midori, Jay Wiseman and Cleo Dubois. At 8:30 PM, "The Sex Movie" brings together four long-time friends for an evening of cat-and-mouse. Then, at 10:30 PM, "The Amateurs" begs the question of whether three would-be adult filmmakers will ever achieve their dubious aim.
On Friday, October 20 at 6:30 PM, it's "Webcam Girls," a funny and engaging visit with four outspoken pioneers of the girlcam frontier. At 8:30 PM a program of explicit works created with a female audience in mind, "Chick Flicks," debunks the notion that women aren't visually responsive beings. And at 10:30 PM, "Other Peoples Mirrors" is a dark, pseudo sci-fi centered around one woman's belief that by following the taboo-breaking directives of alien beings she will escape to her own nirvana.
Kicking off Saturday, October 21 at 12:30 PM, "Orgasmic Women: 13 Self-Loving Divas" share their intimate insights with renowned sexologist Betty Dodson. At 2:30 PM, "Tears Before Bedtime" takes a jaunt through the world of S/M and kink in Sydney, Australia. At 4:30, an illustrious panel of New York-based directors will discuss "The State of Smut: NYC." At 6:30 PM, it's "Power Plays," short works that probe, prod and play with the dynamics of sexual power and fantasy, followed by "Passion Plays" at 8:30 PM, a collection of erotic, sometimes explicit pieces that dance along the supposed boundary of art, including the documentary recently banned in Australia, "Damon and Hunter." And, rounding out the CineKink NYC screening schedule at 10:30 PM, it's "O - Power of Submission," a lush contemporary adaptation of the literary S/M classic from veteran director Ernest Greene.
