BACK ISSUES: THE HUSTLER MAGAZINE STORY
Directed by Michael Lee Nirenberg, 2014, USA, 89 minutes; New York premiere.
With unique access to the story – Michael Lee Nirenberg’s father was one of “Hustler”’s original art directors in the 1970’s and 1980’s – this is a definitive look at the personalities and features that made what is seen to be the most offensive magazine of all time. From its humble inception as a night-club rag, through its adjustments to pornography in the 21st century, the “Hustler” story is told by its infamous publisher, Larry Flynt, as well as the editors, cartoonists, models, attorneys, art directors and cultural figures that shaped it. LOVE HARD + BODY OF GOD
A double-feature celebrating the exploration of limits…be those of mind, body and/or soul. First, LOVE HARD (Sensate Films, 2014, Australia, 46 minutes; US premiere) a work of docu-portraiture about BDSM and intimacy, presents unique, articulate and thoughtful perspectives on how kink can function in our lives – as a practice of art or intimacy, as a mode of expression or release, as an iteration or an obliteration of self, as a way to play, a way to fuck, a way to love, a way to be ordinary. And then, BODY OF GOD (Jouni Hokkanen, 2013, Finland, 68 minutes; US premiere), the first documentary to depict the history of modern body modification, traces the phenomenon from Fakir Musafar’s early experiments as a 12-year-old boy in the 1940s, through its worldwide, mainstream breakthrough in the 90s. (Total program running time is 114 minutes.)

A TRIBUTE TO CLUB 90 (Special Event)
Five adult film stars from New York’s “Golden Age of Porn,” Veronica Hart, Gloria Leonard, Candida Royalle, Annie Sprinkle and Veronica Vera, came together in 1983 to create Club 90, the first-ever porn star support group. Named for the address of the living room where they regularly met, the group forged a bond that would continue for more than thirty years. Turning to one another as they began to navigate life after starring in blue movies, these dynamic women went on to pursue their own personal and creative goals, and in the process, blazed new trails in the fields of human sexuality, women’s empowerment, erotic expression, and free speech. Bringing together four of the club’s founding members for a rare public reunion, A TRIBUTE TO CLUB 90, will feature clips of the group’s favorite work from both sides of the camera, along with a special remembrance of Gloria Leonard, who passed away in 2014, and frank and funny reminiscences of the days when NYC was America’s sex film capital, movies were shot on 35mm film, and Times Square was strictly x-rated.

HIGH SHINE: 15 YEARS OF INTERNATIONAL MS BOOTBLACK
Directed by Christina Court, 2015, USA, 90 minutes; World premiere.
In the dark corners of America’s leather bars, you can often find a bootblack hunched over, lovingly cleaning a patron’s boots for not much more than the tips that pay for their shining supplies. Increasingly, that bootblack in the backroom is a woman and, since 1999, many woman-identified bootblacks have taken their bootlicking and leather-loving selves out of the bar’s dark corners and onto the stage, ready to compete for the International Ms Bootblack (IMsBB) title.

It includes interviews with barmen, patrons, trans-men, human rights activist Peter Tatchell and AIDS emeritus Dr. Joseph Sonnabend. It contains explicit sex, as its subject insists.
